Penn State Abington Summer Start Hybrid Program is a two-part, non-credit program for new international students. To apply, see the application below.

Part 1: July 1-August 1, 2025: online summer program of workshops and information sessions that prepare students for college in the U.S. Students will meet faculty and staff from Penn State, current students, and people from the community.
 

Part 2: August 25-December 12, 2025 (Fall Semester). Arrive on campus and attend events that will help you enjoy life at Penn State Abington.

Part 3: If you complete the summer program and the required fall programming, Penn State Abington will award you a grant of $4,000, to be applied directly to your student account.

  • You must be a fully admitted student starting at Penn State Abington  

  • You must have access to a reliable internet connection and a working microphone and web camera  

  • Submit your application, which includes a one-page essay in English. 

  • The deadline for applications is May 30, 2025, 5 PM EST

  • July 1, 2025: August 1, 2025 – summer ONLINE ONLY program (1-2 workshops per week; attend a minimum of 5 workshops) 

  • Fall 2025: August 25, 2025-December 12, 2025 (on campus during regular fall semester) 

  • Students will be required to attend TWO on-campus events during the fall semester.  There will also be optional meals and a closing celebration in the spring semester.   

  • Please note:  In addition to attending the workshops and events, students will be asked to submit short reflections on the program.  

No visa is required to attend the summer portion, which is fully online.  F1 Visa students must enroll full-time when on campus.  Please allow a minimum of 8 weeks for processing time of student documents.  Our program works with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSA) and an international student adviser provides guidance on visa and immigration regulations.

The program requires students to complete BOTH the summer online portion and the on-campus portion in the fall. Failure to complete these portions will result in no scholarship award.
